What is a Respiratory Care Practitioner ?

A Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a healthcare professional specializing in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with respiratory disorders. They work closely with physicians to provide critical care to patients with breathing difficulties.  


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing patients' respiratory conditions  

  • Administering respiratory treatments (e.g., oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments)  

  • Operating and maintaining respiratory equipment (e.g., ventilators)  

  • Educating patients and their families about lung diseases and management  

Essentially, RCPs play a vital role in helping patients breathe easier and improve their overall lung health.
